Carol’s upcoming film series may have more to do with ‘The OA’ than ‘The Leftovers’
Carols upcoming film will be the first in a series of two.
It stars Kristen Wiig as a woman who lives with a serial killer who has returned to her neighborhood.
She’s also a former teacher, and she’s not alone in being haunted by the same fears that haunted her father.
A new trailer for Carols second feature film shows the family dealing with a new fear, and they’re also dealing with the effects of the serial killer on their lives.
“What we want to do is make it as relatable as possible for the audience,” director and producer Joanna Robinson said in a press release.
“We want to make sure that it’s not just an homage to the characters, but it’s an honest portrayal of what it was like to live with the threat of serial killers.”
The film is being produced by the studio that created and directed “The Leftover” (though the project will be written by and starring Robinson and Chris Meloni), and it stars Robert Carlyle, James Marsden, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Tom Wilson.
“Carols” first feature film, “The Oa,” was released in 2018 and was a box office smash.
It’s still one of the highest grossing films of all time, and it was nominated for an Oscar in 2019.
