‘This is what happens when you go to your dad’s’: Man ‘killed by girlfriend’ after her father had a drink
Posted June 13, 2018 12:04:59A 21-year-old man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend has been charged over the death of her, police have said.
The 31-yearold woman, from Newcastle, died in hospital last week after a drunken night out.
A police statement said she was found by a friend in the parking lot of a club and taken to hospital, where she died.
“She was a very, very popular girl,” Acting Detective Inspector Chris Burdick said.
“It’s a tragic situation that she lost her life and her family is distraught.”
Police said a “significant amount of alcohol” was involved in the attack, which happened at the St James’s Place nightclub in the city’s inner west.
“At the time of the incident the victim was a student at a local primary school and was a part of a group of young women in the area who had gone out to celebrate the birthday of her boyfriend,” Detective Inspector Burdack said.
Police said they were investigating whether the victim, who was not named, was involved with the group of women.
Police are also investigating whether her father, a former Royal Bank of Australia worker, was responsible for her death.
